The UC Law SF Certificate of Legal Studies (CLS) program is a two-semester, part-time program designed to provide professionals who engage with the law a foundational understanding of legal reasoning and doctrine.

Transfer to MLS Program
UC Law SF CLS students who wish to continue their studies after completing the CLS may be eligible to transfer to the Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program and complete their master’s degree in just one additional semester.
Apply to CLS
The CLS program application opens on September 1 each year with a priority application deadline of April 15. At this time, the CLS program only admits students for the fall semester.
