Professor Zimmerman joined the faculty as an Adjunct Professor at ÌÇÐÄÔ´´. She also serves as City Attorney for the City of Daly City, where she is the City’s chief legal advisor to the City Council, commissions, and municipal departments. For more than twenty years, she has advised on a broad range of legal issues, including municipal law, administrative law, employment, public contracts, land use, elections public works, ethics, and local government.
Before becoming City Attorney, Professor Zimmerman served as Assistant City Attorney for Daly City, Deputy Public Defender with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office, and practiced civil litigation in private practice. In addition to her legal practice, Professor Zimmerman previously taught Constitutional Law and Criminal Procedure as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Alliant International University. She regularly develops and presents legal education and continuing legal education (MCLE) programs for attorneys, elected officials, public employees, and municipal professionals on topics including municipal law, ethics, Brown Act compliance, administrative hearings, and local government. Her teaching emphasizes practical legal writing, analytical reasoning, and the application of legal principles to real-world legal problems.
Professor Zimmerman earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and her LL.M. in Real Estate Development from Golden Gate University School of Law.
