Bio

Geralyn Busnardo (B.A., University of Colorado; J.D., Loyola Law School) is an attorney and international rule of law development expert whose career spans criminal defense, international justice programming, prosecution, and private practice. She began as a Deputy Public Defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, where she tried approximately 40 jury trials across felony and misdemeanor courts. She then spent two decades overseas designing and leading USAID-funded rule of law programs, serving as Chief of Party for justice reform initiatives in Kosovo and Egypt, and holding senior program leadership roles with Tetra Tech overseeing projects in Afghanistan, Iraq, Liberia, Myanmar, and beyond. Returning to the United States, she joined the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted misdemeanors and established the Wage Theft/Labor Trafficking Unit. She has taught legal writing to graduate law students at UC Law SF and currently practices as a solo criminal defense attorney in Oakland, focusing on appointed misdemeanor representation in San Francisco Superior Court.
