Artistic Freedom on Display at Center for Constitutional Democracy Open House

The Center for Constitutional Democracy hosted an afternoon of inspirational art, connection, and conversation about rights and justice at its Open House on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
The art exhibit, Free Association by Oakland-based artist , is in connection with Fall of Freedom, a nationwide wave of cultural events aimed at defending creative freedom.
According to Manga, the unique combination of colors and shapes in each of the six paintings featured in Free Association 鈥渆xpress values of diversity, equality, freedom, harmonious participation, and the diffusion and distribution of power fundamental to a functioning democracy.鈥
Manga explains that 鈥渁t this time of dramatic authoritarian overreach, I hope the artwork is a resource for all and a support for the Center鈥檚 vision of building 鈥榯he democratic future we want and need.鈥欌
鈥淚t is such a pleasure to have Manga鈥檚 art featured at the Center for Constitutional Democracy,鈥 says Executive Director Nicole Ozer. 鈥淭he Open House brought together community members, faculty, staff, and students for an important afternoon of conversation and connection about pressing issues and it is really a joy for people to keep popping in to see the vibrant artwork and hear more about the work of the new Center for Constitutional Democracy.鈥
The art exhibit will continue at the Center for Constitutional Democracy at UC Law SF until February.
