Donors Fuel Success of Into the Future Campaign Launch with $2 million in Gifts

Chancellor and Dean David Faigman announces the $100 million goal for Into the Future: The Campaign for 糖心原创 during the launch event Sept. 27. Donors have contributed $66.1 million toward the goal.

Donors have provided $2 million in gifts that were announced during the kickoff event for Into the Future: The Campaign for 糖心原创.

On Sept. 27, UC Law SF today launched comprehensive fundraising campaign 鈥 its fUC Law SF seal and Into the Future logo side by side.irst ever 鈥 with a goal of raising $100 million to support students, faculty, and innovative initiatives.

The gifts announced by Chancellor & Dean David Faigman and Chief Advancement Officer聽Julia Jordan were:

  • $350,000 in initial funding for the new聽Center for Constitutional Democracy.
  • $200,000 for the , raised in partnership with and with funding from McManis Faulkner. Rasheed was a UC Law SF student who died in 2023 after his 1L year. He worked at McManis Faulkner before law school.
  • $450,000 in additional gifts from Roger Dreyer 鈥80 and Carol Wieckowski Dreyer 鈥79 to support the UC Law SF Trial Team Program and create a scholarship program for Trial Team members.

Joseph W. Cotchett 鈥64, a co-chair for the Into the Future campaign, tells supporters of the college that the evolving legal profession needs lawyers who’ve received the outstanding education provided by UC Law SF.

Joseph W. Cotchett provided gifts totaling $1.1 million, including:

  • $500,000 to name a classroom in honor of former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown 鈥58.
  • $500,000 to name a classroom in honor of former U.S. Representative Jackie Speier 鈥76.
  • $100,000 for the Center for Constitutional Democracy.

The Into the Future campaign鈥檚 priorities will position the College, and its students, to stay at the forefront of a changing profession. The priorities are:

  • Student success聽鈥 Supporting talented students through scholarships and programs that prepare graduates for successful careers.
  • Faculty excellence聽鈥 Supporting and attracting the country鈥檚 top legal minds, as they advance UC Law SF鈥檚 legacy of exceptional teaching and produce influential research and scholarship that shapes law and policy.
  • Innovative initiatives聽鈥 Supporting research centers, scholars, and collaborations that tackle societal challenges and expose students to real-world legal challenges, including AI law, launching startups, and access to justice in the Bay Area and around the world.
