WorkLife Law Receives Grant to Launch New Initiative Supporting Family Caregivers in Los Angeles Area听

The grant will help support caregivers who must balance employment and caregiving responsibilities.

The has received a $75,000 grant to support family caregivers in the Los Angeles area. This funding will facilitate a pilot community-legal partnership with the Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center (LA CRC), empowering low-income caregivers to access paid family leave and other workplace rights.听

Awarded by the California Access to Justice Commission鈥檚 Infrastructure and Innovation Grant Program, the grant supports the center鈥檚 nationwide efforts to advance justice in the workplace.听

The initiative addresses challenges faced by workers caring for aging and disabled family members. Caregivers often encounter job insecurity and financial strain. The partnership with LA CRC will enhance existing services by introducing a legal services component that includes creating and disseminating bilingual, culturally competent 鈥渒now-your-rights鈥 resources for caregivers, training LA CRC case workers on caregivers鈥 legal protections, and providing direct legal assistance to working caregivers.

WorkLife Law hopes to expand this model statewide and beyond.
