CNDR at the ABA Dispute Resolution Conference

A long-time attendee, The (CNDR) made its annual appearance at the , held May 10-13, 2023 in Las Vegas, NV.

This year marked the return to an in-person event, and participants from across the country joined together to share ideas and build connections. This year鈥檚 theme was Leading Change Through ADR: Strategies for Navigating Our World Today.

Plenary speakers included Judge Cheryl Demmert Fairbanks, Tribal Court of Appeals, discussing Indigenous peacemaking as a model to shift from an adversarial mindset to restoration and healing, and Professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow, reviewing the history of dispute resolution processes and what the future might hold with regard to technological changes in our field.

CNDR sponsored the Legal Educators鈥 Colloquium Luncheon and hosted an exhibit booth. CNDR Deputy Director presented 鈥Exploring Intergenerational Differences in Mediation鈥 with of Transform Belonging and UC Law SF alum Gabby Sergi to a packed room. The engaged group worked on identifying implicit biases related to age and other factors, and then practiced using some effective communication tools to engage in conversations about biases.
