CNDR Celebrates Book Release by Alum and Longtime Professor
The Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution CNDR is pleased to announce the book release of a UC Law SF alum and long-time CNDR faculty member. The icing on the cake for us is that the College is featured as a recurring 鈥渃haracter鈥 throughout the book!
Endorsed by Robert Cialdini and featured on NPR, Lucia Kanter St. Amour (formerly Stephanie Lucia) is one of only a few women authors in the general marketplace on the topic of negotiation. Her new book, , shot to 鈥#1 NEW RELEASE鈥 status on Amazon after just 3 days!听
On November 10, 2022, CNDR invited Lucia鈥檚 friends and family to celebrate the release. Students and faculty from the Mediation Clinic and our Negotiation classes joined together in the Skyroom lounge, featuring 360掳 views of San Francisco, to celebrate Lucia鈥檚 book and her sparkling representation of UC Law SF in the ADR field. Lucia treated guests to a reading, and was sure to skip over a role play exercise spoiler for students currently in the Negotiation class.听
Author Bio:
Lucia is a Vice President for United Nations Women, and a 1998 graduate of UC Law SF, San Francisco. She has been practicing law since 1998, and ten years of her practice included clinical teaching positions in mediation; and in negotiation and settlement at both University of California law schools at Berkeley and San Francisco (as a seminal faculty member of the CNDR). She has lectured at many prominent law and business schools in the U.S. and Europe and served for a number of years as an annual competition judge and mediator for the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. One of the original designers of the pilot mediation program for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission鈥檚 San Francisco regional office in 1996, Lucia has a deep background in mediation and earned her mediation certification from the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation.听
In 2022, she launched her听, which gained an immediate dedicated following for its inclusive storytelling and social-cultural-historical approach to negotiation as it relates to everyone every day. She is also founder and executive director of Spectrum Strategies, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing siblings support, and dog matching and training to families of children with autism. Having represented a special education student as part of the Civil Justice Clinic when she was a law student, Lucia has maintained a pro bono practice assisting families with special education students her entire legal career.听
Mother of five boys (three canine and two human), studied in six languages, a pianist, a single digit index golfer, and a home chef of really legitimate Italian cuisine, she splits her time between San Francisco and Walnut Creek – at least until her youngest son, a Senior at the Ruth Asawa School of The Arts, graduates in 2023.
